** CHILE. CVC Calera de Tango site survived the quake, still on air with usual good signal here.
17680 at 1812 check with reports in Spanish about the quake, e.g. the airport is closed; no doubt from the Miami studios, as it would be unthinkable to originate anything from Chile itself.
Telemundo and Univisi?n are also covering it on US television (Glenn Hauser, OK, DX LISTENING DIGEST)

Subject: [dxld] UPDATE – Bar-Kulan Radio – New targeted broadcast for SOMALIA

The station now tells me that their SW schedule from 1 March will be:
0500-0600 GMT on 15750 kHz (UAE);
1600-1700 GMT 9960/9930 kHz (Meyerton).
This conflicts with the widely posted details that the transmissions will be from Ascension, and with 17700 given as the frequency for the one at 1600-1700.

Chris

More details continue to emerge on this new station: it seems that the name will be Bar-Kulan Radio, rather than Radio Bar-Kulan as I first reported (below).
A website – under construction – has appeared at:
http://www.bar-kulan.com/.
And the ADXC has posted the following schedule at http://adxc.wordpress.com/:

“Radio Bar-Kulan/Meeting Place, from March 1, 2010?
“0500-0600 on unid. ASC 250 kW / 065 deg to CEAf Somali, 25/22/19 mb?
“1600-1700 on 17700 ASC 250 kW / 065 deg to CEAf Somali, A-10 on same”
So, they have a registration from 1st March via Ascension.

Here are some more details about this, which I gleaned on a visit to the new station’s HQ in Nairobi last week:
NAME: Radio Bar-Kulan (= Meeting Place).
FUNDING AND PURPOSE: UN-aided, to operate in support of UN and African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) information operations in Somalia.
OPERATIONS: Independent; run by the same management that set up Radio Okapi for the DR Congo.
LAUNCH DATE: March 2010.
INITIAL SCHEDULE: 0500-0600 and 1600-1700 GMT daily. Hopes to expand broadcasting hours later. To broadcast on SW, satellite, internet streaming and via FM relays in Somalia.
STUDIOS: In Nairobi.
SW TRANSMISSIONS: Being arranged by VT (note: not necessarily from VT sites). Exact frequencies not yet announced.

A request for those who watch upcoming HF registrations to keep an eye out for any new bookings of transmissions for Somalia (or the registration may be for the whole Horn of Africa region – CIRAF zone 48). A new station targeting that country is due to go on the air soon, perhaps as early as next month. It will definitely use shortwave. I may have more details next week.

Horn of Africa music to 1657, announcements by lady, presumed Ko’ran, further announcements, then brief piece of music and Adventist World radio identification before the transmitter was switched off.

Thank you for your reception report. You heard us on our very first day of broadcast. Your details are correct.
This is a brand new radio station so we do not yet have QSL cards. We will get some in the future. We do not even have a letterhead yet!
One of our technicians is from India and I am copying him on this reply – I’m sure he will be pleased!
Soon we will also be streaming from our internet site so check bar-kulan.com for details.

I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

A different issue is that video gaming became one of the all-time biggest forms of entertainment for people of nearly every age. Kids engage in video games, and also adults do, too. The XBox 360 is just about the favorite video games systems for many who love to have a huge variety of games available to them, along with who like to play live with other people all over the world. Thanks for sharing your opinions.

I really really like this new Spartacus television series, it is quite a tad quite a bit gratuitous physical violence in my view. No chance might I allow the young people watch this either, but it can be engaging all round.

The new Zune browser is surprisingly good, but not as good as the iPod’s. It works well, but isn’t as fast as Safari, and has a clunkier interface. If you occasionally plan on using the web browser that’s not an issue, but if you’re planning to browse the web alot from your PMP then the iPod’s larger screen and better browser may be important.

The company that produce Zetaclear have a good reputation for making quality remedies, for an extensive range of medical conditions. The best part is, you can try Zetaclear with confidence because of the full money back guarantee that comes with the product. In addition to that the company are offering free bottles with certain orders, which means you can get good value for your money, and if you are like me, then that is important. Stubborn nail fungus tends to spread across the nail and to other nails and also the surrounding skin, sometimes even leading to secondary bacterial infections which most unpleasant. In some extreme cases surgery is required to resolve the infection. So it is a good idea to treat the condition as early as possible. Zetaclear it is a great product for treating nail fungus and is why the product continues to be so popular, and whether you use Zetaclear or another nail fungus treatment, you will be glad you did, because it is a great relief to be able to show your nails in public without having to worry!

Hi. this is kind of an -unconventional- question , but have other visitors asked you how get the menu bar to look like you’ve got it? I also have a blog and am really looking to alter around the theme, however am scared to death to mess with it for fear of the search engines punishing me. I am very new to all of this …so i am just not positive exactly how to try to to it all yet. I’ll just keep working on it one day at a time.

All I hear is a bunch of whining about something that you could fix if you werent too busy looking for attention.
