Major restructure unfolds at KBS

Posted: 28 Jun 2010 09:17 PM PDT

KBS has undertaken a major organizational restructure as of June 11, 2010. The latest change aims to redefine roles and responsibilities of KBS as public service broadcaster which places greater emphasis on audience and broadcasting content.

Main points of the recent restructure are as follows;

- Newly-introduced organizational structure of KBS consists of 5 Divisions and 3 Centers.
- 5 Divisions: Audience Relations, News & Sports, Content, New Media & Technology, Policy Planning
- 3 Centers: Programming, Radio, Production Resources

New structure has been designed to reshape KBS as an audience and content-centered organization. Several new departments dealing with Audiences Rights Protection and Public Welfare Services have been created to achieve such a goal. Television Division has been reorganized into Content Division which will oversee not only planning and production of content but also content distribution. Documentary Department has been set up under Content Division to meet the goal of enhancing KBS as a content-oriented broadcaster. Also, New Media & Technology Division has been created in order to actively respond to the future media environment. Production Resources Center includes various support services of KBS such as TV & News Operations and Visual & Radio Technical Operations. BBC Afrique covers Guinea elections with partner Liberté FM

Posted: 28 Jun 2010 09:14 PM PDT

BBC World Service is to join forces with its re-broadcasting partner in Guinea, Liberté FM, to cover the country’s presidential election on Sunday 27 June.

Special reports and analysis by the BBC’s French for Africa service, BBC Afrique, will culminate on Sunday 27 June with BBC Election Night Live, from Conakry.

The special programme is co-produced with Liberté FM journalists. Beamed from Conakry, it will be broadcast on BBC’s FM network across Francophone Africa and on a number of partner stations.

BBC Afrique’s Dakar editor, Ibrahima Diané, says: “The BBC Afrique team – our journalists, presenters and studio managers – have been reporting from Conakry throughout the week, taking the country’s temperature in the run-up to the Election Day.

“While the 19 June edition of our monthly interactive programme, L’Afrique en Direct, was dedicated to Guinea, we’ve also broadcast a special discussion programme from Conakry, featuring invited guests.

“BBC Afrique is delighted to join forces with our Liberté FM colleagues to cover this important event in the life of Guinea and the region. We are looking forward to a day of excellent journalism and synergy with our re-broadcasting partner as we work together to report to the world Guinea’s politics and its people’s expectations and
hopes.”

BBC Afrique’s special coverage of Guinea’s presidential election will feature across programming throughout Sunday 27 June and online at bbcafrique.com.

BBC Election Night Live will be broadcast from Conakry between 1830 and 2100 GMT.
